KnottyDesk Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how KnottyDesk, LLC ("KnottyDesk," "we," "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use the KnottyDesk™ website at knottydesk.com and the KnottyDesk app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, and your role (Boat Owner, Service Pro or Marina).

- Business information (Service Pros and Marinas): business name, contact details, staff members, insurance certificates, licenses and credential expiration dates.

- Vessel information: vessel name, specifications, engine and machinery hours, maintenance schedules and records, photos, and documents such as registration and insurance.

- Service information: service requests, notes, estimates, approvals, job status, invoices, marina access authorizations and check-in records.

- Messages and support requests you send through the Service or to info@knottydesk.com.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store full card numbers or security codes. We receive limited payment details from Stripe, such as the last four digits of a card, payment status and payout records.

Information collected automatically. Device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and dates and times of use. Our website may use cookies for analytics; you can control cookies in your browser settings.

Location. If you allow it, we use your device location to show nearby Service Pros and Marinas. You can turn this off in your device settings.

2. How we use information

- To provide the Service: keep your vessel records, send reminders, route service requests, and process subscriptions and invoice payments.

- To connect you with the Service Pros and Marinas you choose.

- To communicate with you about your account, service activity, security and changes to the Service.

- To send product news and offers, if you have not opted out. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service.

- To understand and improve how the Service is used.

- To comply with law.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

- With the Service Pros and Marinas you choose. When you send a service request or authorize marina access, the Pro or Marina sees the vessel and service details needed for that job. Marinas see operational information only: service type, vessel, Pro, times and access status. They do not see prices, estimates or invoices.

- With service providers who run the Service for us under confidentiality obligations, including hosting and database (Supabase, Netlify), payments (Stripe), email delivery and analytics.

- For legal reasons: to comply with law or legal process, protect rights and safety, or investigate fraud.

- In a business transfer: if KnottyDesk is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

- With your consent in any other case.

4. How long we keep information

We keep account and vessel information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or payment reasons, such as invoice and payment history. Service records a Pro created for work on your vessel may remain in that Pro's business records.

5. Your choices and rights

- Access and correction: view and edit most information in your account settings.

- Deletion: request deletion of your account and data by emailing info@knottydesk.com.

- Export: request a copy of your vessel records by emailing info@knottydesk.com.

- Marketing: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

- Text messages: we will only send text messages if you opt in, and you can reply STOP to stop them.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws. To exercise any right, email info@knottydesk.com. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that limit each user to their own data, and private file storage. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The Service is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
